Quackers is a talking plush toy duck that sings when you squeeze its belly. He can speak over 5,000 different phrases and his outfit has a sailor theme: a blue shirt with a white anchor emblem, and a white sailor hat.
D.W. receives Quackers as a gift on Christmas, rather than the toy she really wanted, Tina the Talking Tabby. Tina was all sold out, and Mrs. Read gets Quackers for D.W. instead.
D.W. really wanted Tina, but comes to accept Quackers as being "kinda cute." She later declares that Santa Claus knew she would like Quackers much better than Tina.
In the book version of Arthur's Perfect Christmas, D.W. states instead that Quackers is capable of saying over 4,000 words and that she wants to hear them all.
